Ahja Fox is a mother, educator, freelancer, and the current Poet Laureate of Aurora, Colorado. She has editorial, hosting, teaching and unique performance experience through working with/for the City of Aurora, Art of Storytelling, Poetix University, Copper Nickel, Poetry Brothel Denver, Kallisto Gaia Press, Poetix University, and more. Ahja is the creator and mentor of Muse Mentorship, curated a city-focused poetry art exhibit with the Aurora History Museum in 2024 (Aurora Speaks) and ran Poetry Profiles, a limited poet spotlight series in 2023. She is a youth instructor at Lighthouse Writers and is also a board member for Soul Stories. In regards to her writing, Ahja was a CAAPP Book Prize Finalist in 2021 and a GASHER Press First Book Scholarship Finalist in 2022. In 2025, she was the first poet/writer ever to finalize for the local Sharon Prize. Ahja is passionate about the transformative power of storytelling. She believes resources and knowledge-sharing are the greatest ways to preserve art.
