Our History
Word Unbound is a project of The Word | A Storytelling Sanctuary. Over our years of building literary programming with a view toward collective abundance, we have often heard that traditional writing programs miss so much of the potential for curious play or for unearthing less conspicuous structure. We started this project to seek more space for a writing community ready for expansiveness. These longform workshops expand on the spaces The Word has been building since 2016, as we continue to answer when our community calls.
Word Unbound is about building expansive writing community
Word Unbound workshops are for all writers, from all backgrounds and writing experiences, to join together in an exploration of what sits just beyond what we’ve already asked. Our focus is connecting writers with instructors who have pushed their own craft to unexpected realities or visioned the publication journey past hidden doors. This space provides opportunities for learning from peers and offers moments for many more connections to become.
